What is Independence? Criminal Defense Lawyers in Denver

Posted by Nikea Bland | Jul 04, 2014 | 0 Comments

In this week's installment of Simplified Law, we're celebrating the 4th of July by looking at a principle instead of a law. Tomorrow, we are celebrating our nation's independence. We often take the word “independence” for granted – after all, we simply enjoy the fruits of our founding fathers fought so many years ago. Today, we're going to look closely at this word and see how it applies to what we do as criminal defense attorneys in Denver, Adams, and Jefferson County.

What is Independence?

According to Webster's 1828 Dictionary, independence is:

Independ'ence. n.

  1. A state of being not dependent; complete exemption from control, or the power of others.
  2. A state in which a person does not rely on others for substinence; ability to support one's self.
  3. A state of mind in which a person acts without bias or influence from others; exemption from undue influence; self-direction.

As you can see, independence involves freedom, and is a wonderful thing. We believe independence is a right which every person should exercise. After all, isn't that what we're celebrating tomorrow?

Here at the O'Malley Law Office We Fight for Independence

Each we are faced with clients who have been charged with crimes which put their independence and freedoms in jeopardy. Whether it is Resisting Arrest, Burglary, or Sexual Assault, a conviction often leads to jail or prison time. Here at the O'Malley Law Office, we understand how important your freedom and independence are to you. We fight hard to get the best possible outcome in your case. Here are a few ways we do this:

1.We Offer a Free Consultation

We offer a free initial consultation at our office. This is to give you a chance to meet us and gather information about what to expect as you go through the criminal justice system. After you meet with us, we won't pressure you into making a decision to hire us. This is because we believe it is important to find an attorney you work with the best.

2.We Always Tell the Truth

We will give you a realistic perspective on your case. We won't tell you we can get your case dismissed if we don't think it is realistic. Some lawyers are so desperate for clients they will tell people what they want to hear, regardless of the truth. We are always realistic with people as they walk through their case so they know what to expect.

3.We Practice 100% Criminal Law

Here at the O'Malley Law Office, we practice 100% criminal law. What does this mean? It means we don't dabble in other cases, such as divorce law, bankruptcy law, or civil law. We focus only on the laws which pertain to you and your case, and we have a thorough understanding of the way the courts work in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Larimer County and across Colorado. Because we're not spread too thin, we notice important details which are vital in your case.

If Your Independence is at Stake: Contact an Attorney

If you have been charged with a crime in Colorado, don't put your freedom and independence on the line. Contact an experienced criminal defense attorney to be your advocate in the courtroom. As we celebrate Independence Day, we are all reminded of the importance of freedom and independence, which our veterans have died for.
