Merry Christmas from Denver Criminal Defense Attorneys

Posted by Unknown | Dec 24, 2014 | 0 Comments

Merry Christmas! Here at the O'Malley Law Office, we are enjoying this special season. It is a time to feast, enjoy each other's company, laugh, talk, and share gifts. But, most importantly, this is a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But, this raises a question we are often asked: How does being a Christian affect our work as criminal defense attorneys? We defend clients accused of serious offenses in Denver, Adams, and Jefferson County, such as Sexual Assault, Burglary, and Disorderly Conduct. Our faith is central to the way we defend our clients.

We Don't Come to Judge, But to Serve

As Christians, we understand we are all sinners, in need of mercy and forgiveness. So, when we are faced with a client who is guilty of a crime, we are able to extend this mercy and help them get the best possible outcome in their case. Jesus came to serve the sinners and save the downtrodden. Because we have been forgiven much, we feel blessed to extend the mercy and forgiveness of God to our clients.

We Fight for Justice in the Courtroom

We don't believe walking into the courtroom in Arapahoe, El Paso, or Douglas County and pleading guilty is justice. District Attorneys often overcharge crimes in an attempt to bully people into accepting plea agreements. This isn't justice. Reconciliation and healing are the only things which will truly bring about redemption in our society. The police and DAs aren't looking for justice – often, they want to “punish the bad guy” so they can keep their jobs. We have defended clients who were falsely accused of Sexual Assault on a Child. Their futures and freedom were at stake. And yet, the prosecution continued blindly on with the trial, despite the fact there was absolutely no evidence. Our God is a just God. It is part of His nature, and as Christians, we strive to uphold justice in our lives and society. When our clients are guilty, we work hard to get them favorable plea deals which will get them the help they need. Whether the plea deal results in a community corrections sentence, therapy, or treatment, we understand they will not receive the help they need by sitting in a prison cell.

Merry Christmas!
