Video: Shoplifter Steals TV in a Creative Way | Theft in Colorado

Posted by Kyle B. Sawyer | Jan 26, 2015 | 0 Comments

There are many different kinds of Theft charges in Denver, Arapahoe, and El Paso County. These include identity theft, embezzlement from an employer, fraud, and shoplifting. Today, we're going to take a look at shoplifters and how they are charged after taking items from stores across Colorado. I recently saw a video which illustrates just how clever shoplifters can be. Let's take a look:

Woman Hides TV Under Skirt: One Creative Shoplifter

In the video (see below), the woman expertly hides an entire television under her skirt. It all takes place in a matter of seconds (the video itself is only 14 seconds long).

The video of this woman is going viral across the world, as people applaud her incredible dexterity in hiding the TV. We're really not sure how she manages walking while hiding such a large box. Seeing this video begs the question: What would this woman be charged with if she had tried to steal the TV from a store in Douglas, Adams, or Jefferson County?

Sentence for Shoplifters: How Theft is Charged in CO

In Colorado when a person is charged with Theft, the classification of the crime depends on the value of what was stolen. If a shoplifter steals a belt from a store in Colorado Mills in Lakewood which is worth $19.99, they will be charged with a less serious level of misdemeanor Theft than a person who steals a $6,999 bike from a bike shop in Golden, felony theft. Theft charges range from a class 1 petty offense, up to a class 2 felony, with prison.

A Theft conviction for shoplifting can have a negative impact on your life. Protect your future by working with an aggressive attorney.
